It is now almost 2012; by this time, you would think that medical science would have made great leaps and bounds to improve health in America (and all over the world). So why is it that people of the United States are so sick all the time? Well, the truth is that while there are many issues within the medical bureaucracy that we cannot do anything about, most of the diseases for which people are treated are actually preventable. This includes things like:
• Respiratory diseases
• Hepatitis
• Heart disease
• Depression and mental/emotional illness
• Sleep apnea
• Smoking (which causes cancer, emphysema, etc)
• Type 2 diabetes
Indeed, you may not be able to move out of any area with smog or other environmental dangers and it is true that not everyone is able to live the lifestyle that they know they should in order to promote better health. Yes, living healthy is not always easy, but that doesn’t mean that you have to accept the life you have been given. In fact, there are two very simple things that you can do today that will dramatically affect your lifespan as well as the quality of life.
1) INCREASE YOUR EXERCISE
Most people absolutely know, without a doubt, that they need more exercise in their lives. A vast majority of these people make excuses about not having any time. Be honest with yourself and with your calendar; the truth is, you can afford 30-60 minutes of continuous exercise every single day. Exercise rejuvenates the body and circulates more oxygen to the brain. Exercise uses up the fat stores in your body and allows you to more efficiently and effectively flush out toxins.
2) IMPROVE YOUR DIET
Another common excuse that many people make is that eating health is too complicated or time-consuming. Unfortunately for people who like to make excuses, it actually isn’t. Eating healthy does not have to involve complicated meals where you portion out everything and make sure you get all of the nutrients you need in a day. No, healthy eating is avoiding unhealthy foods. That is it! If you can eat more vegetables than fruit and more whole grains than protein, you will be surprised by how good you feel.
